FASFOS, a 401(c)(3) non-profit organization, shares a common vision with Dr. Jose Rizal: the pursuit of an educated Filipino society. Through its scholarship programs and outreach initiatives, FASFOS strives to uplift and support the Filipino community, creating opportunities for individuals to reach their full potential.
It was founded by Minerva MP Honkala and now is headed by Felipe Danglapin.
Notably, FASFOS began its scholarship program in 2015. Its first recipients were 4 high school graduates pursuing a college degree. FASFOS is currently looking for individuals, clubs, organizations and business entrepreneurs to be benefactors of this educational outreach program. Presently, FASFOS is soliciting donations and engaging in fundraising activities in order to build this particular program. Partners involved gain personal satisfaction and fulfillment from helping one or more students achieve their dreams of finishing a two-year associate degree or a four-year college education.
With the introduction of the Crisostomo Ibarra Awards, we aim to unite the power of cinema and education, paying homage to Dr. Jose Rizal’s vision of an educated Filipino. The proceeds from the Las Vegas Filipino Short Film Festival will directly benefit FASFOS and its programs, fostering educational empowerment and community development.
FASFOS is the lead partner for the Film Festival component of VEGAS FAB. It hopes to attract film makers and lay the groundwork for an annual Film making competition and celebrate Filipino culture and talents.
